I love a good tuna salad sandwich – hearty, creamy, and light! I love adding a modern flair by using fresh grapes for a light and sweet crunch. This makes a fantastic lunch, especially for anyone working-from-home, as you can whip it up quickly.

This lighter tuna salad is made with Greek yogurt instead of Mayonnaise, for added protein. It doesn’t have as much fat as traditional tuna salads, so it’s a great lighter option for lunch. You can enjoy this easy tuna salad on toasted bread, or as a salad with greens.

What’s In This Tuna Salad with Grapes Recipe?

See the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and instructions.

  • Canned Tuna – You can use either canned tuna in water or in oil, which ever you prefer. Make sure you drain the tuna before adding to the recipe.
  • Grapes – use red or green, either will work! I happened to have delicious red grapes on hand, so I used those and they were fantastic.
  • Celery – for a bright, fresh crunch.
  • Walnuts: because I love adding nutritious ingredients to my foods when I can. I always have a few bags of these walnuts to add to breakfasts, salads, or smoothies.
  • Greek Yogurt – make sure it’s plain and unsweetened!  You can use a fat free Greek yogurt like this one (it’s our favorite!) or a full fat yogurt too. Make sure you get Greek yogurt and not plain yogurt, the thickness really makes this dish fantastic!
  • Sweet relish, or chopped sweet pickles.
  • Lemon Juice
  • Black Pepper

How Is Traditional Tuna Salad Made?

Tuna salad is traditionally made with mayonnaise, which gives it a creamy, tangy texture. This recipe substitutes the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt, which gives the tuna salad a similar flavor but with less fat. And instead of added sugars, this recipe uses natural sweetness from grapes.

You can use non-fat Greek yogurt, 2% or even 4% in this recipe depending on your preferences. Either way, the Greek yogurt makes a really great substitute for mayo!

How Do I Make This Tuna and Grape Salad Recipe?

  1. In a mixing bowl, add the tuna, grapes, celery, yogurt, relish, walnuts, and onion powder, and lemon juice.
  2. Mix well to combine. Taste, and add salt and black pepper to taste.
  3. Scoop the tuna salad on toast or bread to make a sandwich, add to lettuce for a salad, or enjoy as a dip with crackers!
