Using the air fryer is the best way to get dinners on the table fast, great for a busy weeknight meal the whole family will love. This crispy air fryer salmon is great served up with air fryer asparagus or a side salad.
I always cook salmon with the skin on, as it’s much easier to removed once the meat is cooked. The tender salmon with flake right off the skin, which is simpler than removing with a knife before cooking. And the air fryer cooks the fish enough to loosen the skin, for perfectly easy salmon.

Make Perfect Air Fried Salmon
We have a super-quiet air fryer and we are in love with this thing!  Since we don’t use a microwave, cooking salmon in air fryer is an easy way to quickly cook. It’s been really fun to make all kinds of recipes: crispy vegetables, tofu, muffins, and it’s great for reheating leftovers.
I’ve owned a few models, but highly recommend this quiet air fryer for anyone who loves to cook! I got this one which is a perfect size for my kitchen, and also makes as a great gift for friends or family. For this recipe you can also use a parchment paper liner, just ensure you use it after the air fryer has been pre-heated.

Ingredients You’ll Need
Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!
- Fresh Salmon Fillets – you can use fresh or frozen salmon. I prefer coho or sockeye salmon filets when I can find it. Before cooking, check each piece of salmon for bones, and remove any if found. It’s high in Omega-3 fatty acids making it a great source of protein.
- Dijon Mustard – for a really nice flavor and texture, this Dijon is a favorite in our pantry. Use a good quality mustard, not yellow prepared mustard.
- Garlic Powder – which is great on the salmon and pairs nicely with the garlic in the orzo.
- Brown sugar
- Italian Seasoning Blend:Â or read on for more spice suggestions!
- Black Pepper
- Fresh Lemon Juice
Additions and Variations
If you want to use a different spice blend than Italian seasoning, you can add any one you prefer! Here are some great options for a simple seasoning to add to the top of the fish.
- Lemon Pepper seasoning
- Onion Powder
- Chili Powder
- Cajun Seasoning
- Soy Sauce – is using, omit the salt in the spice rub mixture
How To Make This Recipe
- Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Prep the salmon – double check to ensure all bones have been removed from the fillets. Place salmon on a plate skin side down, and pat each salmon fillet with a paper towel to dry.
- In a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Spoon mixture over each of the salmon fillets.
- Place salmon fillets carefully in the hot pre-heated air fryer basket. Set cook time to 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. When finished salmon should be pink with a light golden brown crust on the top and sides. The internal temperature should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove salmon and top with fresh lemon juice and a sprinkle of fresh herbs (like parsley or fresh dill) if desired.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
