Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 large garlic cloves finely minced or grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt or to taste

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Hand Mixer
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, add the softened unsalted butter. Use a mixer and whip the butter until it's smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add in the fresh chopped garlic, parsley, chives, onion powder, parmesan cheese, salt and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Store the butter in an airtight container, or roll it into a log for easier slicing. Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavors to combine.
  4. Use the garlic butter for spread, top for steaks, or mix in with steamed vegetables.

Expert Tips
    • For a creamier, more spreadable butter add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
    • You can freeze the compound butter for up to 3 months.
    • Add it on top of grilled fish, seared steaks, and mixed vegetables for a delicious and flavorful add.
  •
Additions and Substitutions
  • While fresh garlic is best, you could also use jarred minced garlic. You could also use 1 teaspoon garlic powder as well.
  • If you want a little heat, add 1/4 teaspoon of red chili pepper flakes.
  • Instead of sea salt you could use garlic salt for extra garlicky flavor.
  • Try dried parsley or chives instead of fresh.
