1cupmayonnaise
3/4cupbuttermilk*See note below
1tablespoonranch dressing mix
1/2teaspoonground black pepper

Method
In a mixing bowl (or in a blender), whip the mayonnaise using a whisk or hand mixer until airy and slightly fluffy.
Slowly pour in the buttermilk, and whisk until it's fully incorporated into the mayonnaise.
Stir in the ranch seasoning and black pepper, and mix well.
Pour into a bowl or a mason jar, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
*For a thinner ranch dip, add 1 additional tablespoon of buttermilk at a time until the dressing reaches your desired consistency. I started with 3/4 cup of buttermilk, but you use up to 1 cup.Additions and SubstitutionsInstead of using all mayo, you can try this dressing with 1/2 mayo and 1/2 sour cream, or plain Greek yogurt.For extra flavor, stir in 1 teaspoon onion powder or garlic powder.Add fresh dill or any fresh herbs for an tasty version.Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce for a spicier version.
