Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Oyster Knife
  • Ton Foil
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 12 fresh oysters shucked on the half shell
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese shredded
  • 1 lemon cut into wedges

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Arrange the shucked oysters on a baking sheet lined with crumpled aluminum foil so they stay upright. Set the oysters aside.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, panko breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, and smoked paprika. Stir until evenly combined.
  • Spoon a teaspoon of the butter and bread crumb mixture on top of each oyster. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of each. Repeat until all oysters have been topped.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the parmesan and breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  • Remove the oysters from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with fresh lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

Additions and Substitutions
    • While fresh garlic is best, you could also use jarred minced garlic or garlic powder in a pinch.
    • Try different cheeses - gruyere cheese, smoked mozzarella, or Romano cheese would be excellent substitutions for parmesan.
    • Add crisp cooked bacon bits for an oysters Rockefeller vibe.
Expert Tips
Add a splash of white wine or hot sauce to each oyster before topping with the breadcrumbs.
Pair these baked oysters with crusty bread or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
Instead of butter, try using our homemade garlic butter spread with fresh garlic for incredible flavor!
