Ingredients

  • 12 fresh oysters shucked on the half shell
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese shredded
  • 1 lemon cut into wedges

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Oyster Knife
  • Ton Foil
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Arrange the shucked oysters on a baking sheet lined with crumpled aluminum foil so they stay upright. Set the oysters aside.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, panko breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, and smoked paprika. Stir until evenly combined.
  3. Spoon a teaspoon of the butter and bread crumb mixture on top of each oyster. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of each. Repeat until all oysters have been topped.
  4. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the parmesan and breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  5. Remove the oysters from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with fresh lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

Additions and Substitutions
    • While fresh garlic is best, you could also use jarred minced garlic or garlic powder in a pinch.
    • Try different cheeses - gruyere cheese, smoked mozzarella, or Romano cheese would be excellent substitutions for parmesan.
    • Add crisp cooked bacon bits for an oysters Rockefeller vibe.
Expert Tips
Add a splash of white wine or hot sauce to each oyster before topping with the breadcrumbs.
Pair these baked oysters with crusty bread or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
Instead of butter, try using our homemade garlic butter spread with fresh garlic for incredible flavor!
