Sometimes the simplest flavor combinations can have the biggest impact! I love a really basic salt and pepper spice base for my shrimp, layering them on top of garlic and fresh herbs. We love making this shrimp as a base to add to creamy grits or tossed with pasta and garlic bread.

This recipe can be made with fresh shrimp, or thawed frozen shrimp, both work great. Here in New England, we love getting super fresh seafood! But if you live in a land-locked state, then frozen is the way to go. All you need are some simple ingredients and spices, and you have a fantastic dinner in no time.

  • Shrimp â€“ uncooked, peeled, and deveined. If you can find fresh shrimp, I highly recommend it (living in New England we tend to be spoiled on that front). If not, store-bought or frozen works great. Just make sure to rinse off any brine before using.
  • Butter â€“ I like to use unsalted butter to reduce the amount of sodium in my cooking.
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Pink Himalayan Sea Salt: I like to use a pink Himalayan Sea Salt in my kitchen, which has more natural minerals than plain processed table salt.  It’s inexpensive, so I’d recommend this salt if you’re looking for an easy way to level up your spice pantry.
  • Tellicherry Peppercorns: It’s amazing the flavor difference you can get with really good tellicherry black pepper.  Amazon has a generic brand tellicherry peppercorn which is the same price is buying pre-ground, and will add way more flavor to your recipes.
  • Chicken Stock – is the base of this fantastic dish, or any stock you have on hand.
  • Fresh Lemon
  • Fresh Parsley

How Do I Make Shrimp with Salt and Pepper?

  1. Rinse shrimp under cold water, allow to drain, and set aside
  2. In a shallow pan or cast iron skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until the garlic begins to brown at the outside. Pour in the chicken stock, salt, and pepper into the pan.

Add the lemon juice and parsley, and stir well to combine.
